The Mengxi Blue Ocean Photovoltaic Power Station is located in Shanghaimiao Town, Otog Front Banner, Ordos City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, with a total investment of about 12 billion yuan. It is the second batch of "Shagohuang" large-scale new energy power generation base projects in the country, and is also a key supporting project of the ±800 kV UHV DC transmission project from Shanghaimiao, Ordos, Inner Mongolia to Linyi, Shandong Province, under the national "West-to-East Power Transmission and Western Development" project. The project covers an area of about 105,000 mu, equivalent to 10,000 standard football fields, with more than 5.9 million solar panels laid and an installed capacity of 3 million kilowatts.
Shandong Electric Power Construction is responsible for the PC general contracting of the fifth and sixth sections of the project, including 4 220kV booster stations and the 500kV interval expansion project of the State Power Shanghaimiao Power Plant (an important control project of this project). The busbar of the 500kV interval expansion project was successfully connected on September 26, 2024, and the 220kV booster station was completed on October 31, 2024.
After the power station is connected to the grid, it is expected to generate 5.7 billion kWh of electricity annually, sending green electricity across thousands of miles to Shandong for consumption, which can meet the annual electricity needs of 2 million households and provide a strong green energy guarantee for the economic and social development of the eastern coastal areas. According to the standard coal consumption of thermal power, the project can save 1.71 million tons of standard coal and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 4.7 million tons each year, which is equivalent to planting 62,700 hectares of trees, with significant social, environmental and economic benefits.
