According to CCTV News, on January 7, the largest tidal flat photovoltaic storage power station in the country and the largest single-unit photovoltaic project in operation in Shandong Province, the Huadian Shandong Laizhou Large-scale Salt-alkali Tidal Flat Photovoltaic Storage Integrated Project, was connected to the grid for power generation.

The entire project covers an area of ​​18,000 mu, with a total of nearly 2 million photovoltaic panels laid. After all are put into production, it will not only provide a steady stream of clean electricity, but also inject brine under the photovoltaic panels to increase salt production and income for local people.

The Huadian Laizhou Large-scale Salt-alkali Tidal Flat Photovoltaic Storage Integrated Project is one of the third batch of large-scale wind power photovoltaic bases in the country, with an installed capacity of 1,000 megawatts and supporting construction of a 200 megawatt/400 megawatt-hour electrochemical energy storage project. The power station integrates "photovoltaic power generation + salt production" and realizes a composite industrial model.

It is reported that after the project is put into production, it can generate 1.442 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity per year, which can meet the annual electricity consumption of about 500,000 households. 444,000 tons of standard coal are saved annually.

The salt-light complementary mode is adopted. The solar panels all use double-sided double-glass technology. Under the irradiation of sunlight, the brine reflects light to the back of the module, which can increase the power generation efficiency by about 3%. At the same time, the photovoltaic modules have a thermal effect, which can increase the temperature of the salt pool by about 2°C, increase the concentration of brine, and increase the salt production, thus achieving a complementary and win-win situation between salt production and photovoltaic power generation.

The project also built a supporting energy storage system power station. The white boxes in the picture above are like huge power banks. When the sun is strong during the day, the excess solar energy is stored here, and the stored electricity is released at night, becoming a photovoltaic power station that can generate electricity at night. At the same time, due to the use of new electrochemical energy storage technology, it not only has the function of a power bank, but also can play a role in voltage stabilization and frequency regulation when the power grid fluctuates, ensuring the safety and stability of the power grid.

Tidal flat photovoltaic energy storage power stations usually refer to photovoltaic energy storage projects built in complex areas such as sandy and silty areas along the coast of oceans and rivers with excellent sunshine conditions. Taking the Huadian Laizhou saline-alkali tidal flat photovoltaic storage integrated project as an example, the annual average sunshine time here is more than 2,600 hours, and the average sunshine time is more than 7 hours a day, which can convert abundant solar energy resources into electricity.

In addition, due to the intermittent and unstable nature of photovoltaic power generation, the power station also built a supporting energy storage system to store excess solar energy in batteries so that it can be released when there is insufficient light or peak power demand at night.
